What is a doula?
Crysta Parkinson and Karli Keck are DONA-trained birth doulas serving Williston, ND, Sidney, MT, and the surrounding area. The word doula is from the Ancient Greek δούλη (doulē) meaning "female servant".
As birth doulas, we are trained and experienced birthing companions who understand the emotional and physical needs of a woman and her family through pregnancy, labor, and birth, and provide continuous (non-medical) support, caring for the woman throughout her entire birth experience.
We are honored to serve families during this time, and absolutely LOVE what we do. We are sensitive to the needs of everyone involved (dad, grandma, siblings, etc.).
It is our belief that every woman has the power to birth, and the right to do so in the way that feels right for her. Our passion is to provide support tailored to every mother’s unique situation, offering the resources and information that enable each mother to feel confident in her journey into parenthood.
Doulas Online
Our vision is to provide a place where women from all over the country and the world can have access to doula services – even in areas where doulas may not be available in person. While obviously we can’t be there next to every woman while she gives birth, we can be a source of encouragement and informational support through one of the most monumental times of your life!
In the coming months we plan to provide a forum that will allow moms to come together and ask their questions, learn new things, and get feedback. Have a question you’d like a doula to respond to? We’ll have a place for that. We also hope to provide more one-on-one doula services over the internet. Watch this space, lots of great things are to come!
